Our client is a fourth-generation, family-owned heavy civil and site development contractor based in Worcester, with over 100 years of history serving Central New England. What started as a small sand-and-gravel operation has grown into a full-service site contractor handling land clearing, earthwork, foundation excavation, utility installation, roadway construction, and paving — fully insured and bondable for projects in excess of $20 million.
The majority of their work comes from repeat clients who value their dependability, and it's not unusual to find field and office staff who've been with the company for 20 years or more. They run a late-model fleet — excavators, dozers, rollers, rock trucks, portable crushing — and are active union signatories with the Operating Engineers, Laborers, and Teamsters. Their project list ranges from municipal roadway and utility work to large-scale commercial site development, including major retail and mixed-use expansions across the region.
Our client is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join their team in Worcester, supporting delivery of heavy civil and site development projects from early planning through to final paving and landscaping. This is a hands-on role with a company that self-performs the vast majority of its own work, so you'll get direct exposure to how a site actually gets built — not just how it's scheduled on paper.
You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers, estimators, and site superintendents across a mix of public infrastructure and private development projects, building the kind of grounded, field-tested experience that's hard to get at firms that subcontract most of their site work out.
